Our Services & Unique Capabilities

At RAS, Inc., our services, technologies, and unique capabilities are used to help customers and sites that have contamination problems and to find solutions for sustainability. We also use our technologies for other projects like water treatment system design, well integrity evaluation, production optimization, and de-watering. Keep reading to learn more about each of our individual groundwater flow  and subsurface evaluation methods, and contact us today to discuss your project.

Aquifer Pump Testing

Aquifer Pumping Tests are performed to estimate the hydraulic properties of an aquifer and to monitor changes in those properties over time. They are also used to evaluate well performance, screen placements, and optimize production or injection operations.

Downhole Flow

Downhole Flow can be evaluated using advanced methods which measure the groundwater flow rate in a well, and they can be used in conjunction with other methods to estimate aquifer hydraulic properties.

Hydrophysical Logging

Hydrophysical logging is used to directly measure downhole flow and can be integrated with other methods to measure the properties of an aquifer, such as porosity, permeability, and storage coefficient. The RAS hydrophysical approach uses the only advanced multi-sensor instrument that can measure the electrical conductivity and temperature and incorporates EM flow sensors to evaluate multiple depths of fluids quickly and accurately. This tool was originally developed as a result of experience with hundreds of wells and laboratory simulations conducted in conjunction with national DOE and USGS laboratories. This allows us to collect superior data more quickly, which leads to more sensitive and accurate data analyses.

Colloidal Borescope Flowmeter

The RAS, Inc. colloidal borescope flow meter (CBFM) can be used to evaluate horizontal groundwater flow velocity and direction. It is a tool that is viable for accurately measuring horizontal flow and direction. When combined with hydrophysical logging for locating horizontal flowing cells in a wellbore, the CBFM provides an advanced means for evaluating groundwater flow as required in effective environmental and engineering applications.

Wireline and Traditional Packer Testing

The RAS, Inc. wireline straddle packer system (WSP) is a wireline system currently available for subsurface hydrologic testing. This system allows one person to operate the system and does not require a pump rig. The data from the three pressure transducers can be converted to digital form for real-time display of pressure conditions. In addition, depth resolution is improved and depth adjustments are easier and faster.

At RAS, Inc., we have a lot of experience with the latest technologies. We also focus on using multiple types of technology to get a better understanding of what is happening in the subsurface. We work with local businesses and university researchers to stay ahead of the curve and be sure we are providing the the best service possible.
